Farewell, My Friend

Poet
Zulfiqar Hamdam Awan
A silent cry, a shadow fades,
In lonely nights, the echo stays.
A heart once whole, now torn apart,
A love erased, a vanished past.

The weight of dreams, too much to bear,
A burden placed, yet none aware.
A prayer lost in empty skies,
A love unheld, a heart that dies.

Footsteps fade in hollow halls,
Memories carved on broken walls.
The scent of loss, the taste of pain,
A whispered name in falling rain.

Once I knelt with whispered pleas,
With shattered soul, on trembling knees.
Yet love, unhearing, turned away,
And left me lone in silent grey.

The smallest country, my aching chest,
A land of one, with you as guest.
The anthem sung—a fading sound,
Now lost in time, nowhere found.

Words once burned in ink and fire,
Now ashes cold, no more desire.
Let silence hold the love unspoken,
A heart that beat—now left broken.
